Palo Alto is a key community for start-ups and affluent movers and shakers in the Bay Area. Sadly, that doesn’t prevent anybody from suffering from hair loss – whether you are a mover, a shaker, affluent, poverty-stricken, or anything else. Hair loss can happen to anybody.
Fortunately, if you’re in Palo Alto, we have a consultation office in the city, and at SVHI PRP we can consult on PRP therapy at our new office in Palo Alto. Stop reading online and start figuring out your best options.
The way to do that is to meet with our Dr Miguel Canales who is arguably the best hair restoration expert in the Bay Area, and when it comes to the ARTAS robotic system of hair transplants, the world. That is because he was the Medical Director of Restoration Robotics Inc., for ten years, and he led the team which invented the ARTAS system.
Other Possible Options for Hair Loss
However, there are also other possible options to replace thinning or lost hair, one of which is what is known as PRP therapy. PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, and if you are not aware of what that means, it requires some explanation.
The blood consists of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. If you cut yourself, the platelets in the blood are what begin the process of coagulation to stop the bleeding and start the healing. Now if you could increase the percentage of platelets where the cut is, it should increase the coagulation, and therefore hasten the healing process. So far, so good.
PRP therapy in Palo Alto has an effect on the replacement of lost hair and can help to make it grow again, which is a way of replacing lost hair without the need for a transplant. PRP is an effective way of replacing lost hair in women where the problem is usually different from men’s hair loss because, instead of suffering bald patches, women tend to have thinning hair all over.
PRP therapy in Palo Alto uses some of the patient’s own blood and this is spun in a centrifuge to separate out the respective parts of the blood into solids and liquid, and the solid is then treated with platelet activators. It is then injected into the areas of thinning hair. Fresh hair growth can usually be seen somewhere between two and six months after beginning treatment. The process only takes an hour or so and needs to be repeated after four weeks and at eight weeks after treatment commences. Thereafter, treatment is required every three months or so, depending how the individual responds. This can differ from one person to the next.
