Losing Some of Your Hair? Maybe You Should Think Outside the Box

It is a fact that not everything in life will always go the way that you want it to. There are certain things that just happen, whether you want them to or not – and especially as you get older – and one of those is that you can start to lose hair. If you are losing hair, think outside the box.

Some people just accept it for what it is and get on with life, but for many people it can make them feel uncomfortable, and in some cases – particularly with women – can be traumatic.

Now for many of those people the obvious solution is to get a hair transplant. But is that necessarily the right solution? There are other options which you will discover if you start thinking outside the box for hair loss therapy. At Silicon Valley Hair Institute, we do a lot of thinking outside the box for hair loss therapy because we are in the business of hair restoration.

We know how upsetting hair loss can be for many people and we are always looking for new solutions for it. And recently, we have come up with something that is a new treatment but is already looking very promising. It is called PRP for hair loss, and we have been getting some very good results with it.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, and it uses a sample of your own blood to grow hairs. Platelets are the part of the blood which begin the process of coagulation when you cut yourself. It now seems apparent that they can also stimulate the stem cells of hair follicles.

The way that it works is that we take a small sample of your blood and then spin it in a centrifuge. What this does is to separate out the solid parts of the blood from the liquid. The resulting plasma contains between three and five times as many platelets as the blood circulating in the body.

This separated solid part of the blood then has platelet activators like thrombin and calcium chloride, and sometimes collagen, added to it, and it is then injected into the areas of thinning hair. Patients with thinning hair rather than completely bald areas are the best for this therapy. The process seems to stimulate the growth of thin miniaturized hairs into full and thick hairs.

PRP for hair loss is a very promising treatment, and if you are thinking outside the box for hair loss therapy it is a good idea to book an appointment with our Dr. Miguel Canales. If you are a suitable candidate for PRP, the treatment can be started at the time of your consultation. It only takes about an hour.
